Description
This is the rarest Gruen I’ve found. This circa 1930s Gruen pocket/desk sliding watch is truly a gem. Look at this black-and-red art deco case inlaid with enamel! The Gruen Alpina case is sterling silver with inlaid enamel. The original hands are blued steel. The dial exhibits very fine condition. The case slides smoothly to fit in your pocket, then slides open to be used on your bedside table or desk. The fine Gruen Alpina movement has four adjustments. During this time period Aegler supplied movements to both Rolex and Gruen. This watch measures 30.5x60mm when open and 30.5×42.5mm when closed. This is a stunning and rare example that comes in the original and very rare box.
