1940s Veglia Watch

Description

This is a very interesting find! It is a massive, early 1940s or late-1930s Veglia stainless steel watch measuring a gigantic 40mm across! Finding watches of this size is extremely uncommon. We really don’t know anything about the company (Veglia), it sounds Italian. The huge, 15-jewel movement was just cleaned and is accurate. The dial is original having a vintage, patina ‘glow,’ blued steel hands, and sub-seconds. The case is quite sleek and thin at only 9.5mm including the crystal! I would guess this may be a military watch. Again, these are all guesses! This is definitely not a converted pocket watch. It was meant to be a wrist watch from the start. The lugs are fixed and we applied a great-looking khaki-green military, nylon strap.
