The
first few watches on this page are part
of a vast collection of rare and fine
HAMILTON ELECTRIC watches we recently
obtained. These examples are superb!
We owe the invention of the "button
watch battery" in 1952 to the inventors
of the first electric watches (made
by HAMILTON). These; being the FIRST
electric watches ever produced, are
an extremely important contribution
to watchmaking and historically, are
quite notable as being one of the milestone
inventions of the 20th. century.

This
is considered the
rarest and most sought after
of ALL the HAMILTON ELECTRICS. Known
as the "ALTAIR; it was produced
in 1961 with an estimated production
of only 1600 pieces. This watch is in
very fine shape for its age. There is
always a bit of twisting damage to the
lugs where they connect to the case.
The upper lug exhibits some twist damage.
This is a well known fact amongst collectors
who seek this watch and is documented
in Rene Rondeau's HAMILTON ELECTRIC
reference book. Just finding the original
bracelet on these watches is EXTREMELY
rare. Speaking of RENE RONDEAU; this
watch was fully serviced by him in April
2007. The caliber 505 HAMILTON ELECTRIC
movement is quite accurate. The lower
bracelet clasp is not fastened tightly....
so please don't rely on it to keep the
watch on your wrist unless you decide
the crimp it. We are not going to "crimp"
it or touch it at all due to the rarity
of this piece. My advice is; to put
this watch in a safe and not wear it
due to its' scarcity. The case is quite
striking and modern in its' design;
which was certainly far ahead of its'
time. There is only minor wear on the
rear highpoints of the buckle area of
the bracelet. The case condition is
stellar! It is uncommon to find these
watches with their original and un-touched
two-tone dial such as this. The red-tipped
second hand is installed on this watch.
It is mentioned that these watches did
not have the red tip, but where plain
gold. We are leaving it as is; as we
are not certain if this is true with
all these watches. If one wants, they
could easily remove the paint. This
HAMILTON ALTAIR retains its' original
winding crown. This is simply the most
desirable of all the HAMILTON ELECTRICS!
Only $3995.

well and as a result was discontinued

Hamilton
collectors are well aware that this
HAMILTON "REGULUS" Electric
is a VERY rare watch! The 30x40mm. waterproof,
stainless steel case is quite eccentric
in its' design and houses the HAMILTON
ELECTRIC caliber 500 movement; which
was overhauled by RENE RONDEAU, the
noted HAMILTON expert. The ORIGINAL
white dial; having raised, steel Arabic
markers with radium, Dauphine, steel
hands and red-tipped sweep seconds is
in very fine condition for its' age.
The original steel winding crown is
present. The REGULUS was produced in
1958 and was in production for only
one year; making it a very rare watch
indeed. Estimates are, that approximately
2400 were produced and many we are certain
have been destroyed when the owner used
these watches in water with dry seals;
causing leakage into the movement. This
is a prime example of an early and rare
HAMILTON ELECTRIC! Only $1295.

These
GRUEN AIRFLIGHT watches were used by
pilots in the 1950's as they displayed
conventional time; then, after midnight
all the numerals in the apertures switch
over to 24 hour time. The watches featured
24-hour dials, sweep second hands and
the numbers 1 through 12 on the outside
of the dial and 13 through 24 on the
inner ring to accommodate military time.
This dial is ORIGINAL and has the added
the 'CONTAC AA" American Airlines
logo. We are not certain if this logo
was added by American Airlines after
GRUEN produced the watch; as the quality
of the print is not as fine as the rest
of the original GRUEN factory script
on the dial. Our guess is that these
watches were possibly used by AA employees
or the print was added by the previous
owner. We are simply unsure of this
addition. One thing is for certain;
it adds interest to the dial! Notice
the original and interesting hands.
The stainless steel screw back case
with base metal top measures 35mm. across.
These "white" metal cases
are harder to find than the more usual
gold filled varieties. The manual winding
movement was cleaned and is accurate.
For fun; we are including an unused
AMERICAN AIRLINES large sized T-shirt
to complete the look! Only $1395.

Here
is a very rare find! This JUVENIA SLIDERULE
"Arithmo" from the 1950's is quite
an eccentric design! The manual winding
JUVENIA movement was recently cleaned, overhauled
and is accurate. The original dial with
reflective gilt print is still very readable.
The rotating bezel allows for numerous calculations
to be completed. The inner bezel does have
some general fading from age, but is still
intact. Notice the original blued steel
hands. The stainless steel case on this
watch is rather large looking; measuring
36mm. across and 11mm. thick These watches
are very uncommon to find and if found usually
are seen with refinished dials and bezels.
You don't need to know how to use this watch...just
appreciate its' great vintage appeal! This
is an all original example for only $1195.
